WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY #12

Happy New Year all! It's the first Wonderful Wednesday of 2017 and I'm going to *try* to make it a good'un.

How was your New Year's Eve? Did you chill out with Jools Holland on the sofa? Or throw some shapes on the dance floor, whilst sipping a cocktail or two? Whatever you did, I hope you had a fabulous time!

I spent my evening at one of our local pub's, jigging to a live band with some of my favourite people. I then met a few of my friends and had another little boogie before returning home to my bed at 3am. I know, such a dirty little stop out. I'm not a big drinker and sipped lemonade most of the night, so I woke up the next morning hangover free, it doesn't get much more wonderful than that! Or does it? Let's see...

Back to Blogging

In my last post, I explained why I had been absent from the blogging world for a while. I wasn't sure when I'd make my return. However, I knew I wanted to do an 'end of year' type post and I'm so glad that I did. I was going to wait another week till I got back in to my Wonderful Wednesday posts but thought, why? There's no time like the present after all! I'm looking forward to getting back in to the swing of things!

Baking

It seems that Christmas brings out the star baker in me, I'm not sure what it is but baking at Christmas just feels like the right thing to do. I made a few cupcakes and some caramel shortbread on Christmas Eve but they didn't exactly go to plan. A few days later, I tried baking the cupcakes again and I think they worked out quite well! When me and G get our own place, I have a feeling I'll be baking more often and with enough practise, I could become the next Mary Berry!

Secret Chocolate Stash

Before Christmas, G bought me a giant bar of Galaxy and when I say giant, I mean GIANT. Like it must have had 20+ little galaxy blocks in there. I had assumed I finished it all but on Monday, I opened my bedside drawer and there it lay, looking so pretty...unfortunately, there were only five little squares left but what delightful little squares they were!

A Little Road Trip

Yesterday, myself, Gareth and my brother took a little road trip to Bury St Edmunds. It was absolutely freezing but I enjoyed our little wander around the town and the Cathedral.

Making Wonderful Plans

I think 2017 may be the year I finally get to meet some of the lovely Wonderful Wednesday gang. Eeeeek! I'm not sure when or where but I just know that whatever we do, it's going to be so bloody wonderful.

A Fresh Start

I'm so very glad that 2016 is over and a new year is well underway. A new year gives us all a chance to re-evaluate our situation, make new plans, set goals and try new things. I don't go back to work till Monday so I'm dedicating today to doing all of those things, I'm going to set both blogging and life goals, come up with a content plan and perform some well overdue 'clearing out' duties.

Blimey, that was a good one wasn't it? It's not ALL about me though, what has made your week super special? What small things have had you smiling from ear to ear and sending your heart a'flutter? Share your wonderful moments with myself and the rest of the gang* on Twitter by using the hashtag #wonderfulwednesday.

  1. Sounds like you had a wonderful time and I'm glad you decided to join in today. I had a little blogging break too but there was something about a roundup post that has reignited my enthusiasm for it.

You're secret chocolate stash sounds delightful! And that photo from Bury St Edmund's is completely magical.

  4. Happy New Year! My NYE was spent laying on my bed attempting to finish my book before the clock struck 12. It never happened. It was an alright book to end the year on though.

Oooh, caramel shortbread, I used to love that, but haven't come across a vegan version, which probably means I need to make it myself. I might give that a go sometime, next time the baking-bug gets me haha. At the moment, my cooking desires revolve around jacket potatoes and bolognese haha.

A WW meet up?! That sounds like a whole lot of fun! I hope that is something to materialise in 2017!

  5. What a lovely post, especially hidden chocolate, and caramel shortbread (even if it went wrong, I can't help but think it must have been a delicious mistake!). I'm hoping to join in with the wonderful wednesday-ness this year so I look forward to reading more of your posts! x
