Blooming El

Our last full day in New York came around so quickly but with only a few things left to see, I think we'd managed to explore the city at a good pace.

After breakfast, our first stop was the famous Flat Iron building. I think it's probably one of the best buildings in NYC, I'd definitely recommend taking a look if you're ever in the big apple!

We then got on a subway to Brooklyn Bridge and with a drink in hand, we began our journey across the bridge. It was a VERY hot day but that didn't stop us battling through the oncoming pedestrians and cyclists.

We had arranged to meet Mum and Steve at the start of the bridge but they got a little lost and we didn't want to wait any longer, so we met them halfway across the bridge instead.

When I went to New York the first time round, we literally took about ten steps on the bridge then turned back. I'm glad I got the chance to walk the whole way across and stop off in Brooklyn too.

The views from Brooklyn Bridge are pretty spectacular but I don't think they compare to the views from Liberty Island

Once we'd met up with Mum and Steve and set foot in Brooklyn, we went on the hunt for some cheesecake.

We failed miserably.

Google Maps was not our friend and it appears taxi's do not exist in Brooklyn! We went for a little wander and stumbled upon a Shake Shack, as everyone was getting hungry we decided to give it ago.

Oh my, I know I've been banging on about it since I took that first bite but seriously, Shake Shack is where it's AT. Their burgers are amazing, their fries are on point, and their milkshakes are just so damn scrumptious. The perfect reward for all that exercise!

On our last day, G woke up ridiculously early so he could hit some balls on the driving range over the Hudson River. I stayed in bed, waiting for G to return with croissants and fresh orange juice.

Once we'd checked out, we set off to Grand Central Terminal, ready to make the most of our last few hours in the big apple. Luckily, our hotel had a storage facility so we were able to leave our things in the hotel.

The trip to Grand Central Terminal was more for G's benefit but it was lovely to see it again, it's just such a wonderful building!

On the way to Grand Central, I'd spotted a Joe and the Juice and having never tried one, I thought it would be nice to stop there on the way back to our hotel.

Silly me had assumed that they did lunch and whilst they did have some sandwiches on offer, there wasn't anything that tickled our fancy but we ordered some juices anyway. Boy oh boy, the next time I see a Joe and the Juice, I am heading in there pronto, the juice was SO good.

With our thirsts quenched, our next mission was to satisfy our rumbling tums! Not wanting to miss out on a second Shake Shack, we Googled the nearest one and feasted on cheeseburgers and crinkly fries, before heading back to our hotel to get picked up for the airport.

I had such a lovely time in New York and am so grateful that I got to share it with some of the best people in the world!
