Blooming El

Back in April, I was lucky enough to win tickets to a Foodies Festival of my choice. I hadn't heard of Foodies Festival before and after perusing their website, I thought it'd be nice to visit the one in South Park, Oxford. I had originally planned for me and G to make a weekend of it but unfortunately, he couldn't get annual leave for the whole weekend!

The Foodies Festival in Oxford ran from Friday 1st September to Sunday 3rd but we decided to go on the Saturday!

When we first arrived at South Park, our initial thoughts were that the festival looked quite small, considering how much space there was to fill! However, once we got in and had a walk around, it seemed like the perfect size!

After a little stroll amongst the chocolate and cake stalls, we started to get a little peckish. G is a massive fan of cheese and was instantly drawn to the raclette stall. We ordered some nachos and had a little sample of cheesy garlic bread, both were delish!

I was impressed with the amount of food that was on offer but as there was so much and only a few stalls were handing out tasters, I would've liked to have been able to purchase smaller portions. This way, I could've tried several different dishes and bought a bigger portion of what I loved the most!

The atmosphere at Foodies Festival was lovely. The music stage was a nice little touch, I wish we'd spent some time chilling there as I would've loved to discover some new artists. The food stands and bars were really quirky, from the giant Pimms teapot, to Captain Morgan's wooden ship, to a cute little afternoon tea marquee!

After stuffing our faces with paella, pizza, churros, sausage, and smoked cheese, we found a spot in the Cakes and Desserts Theatre. If you want to watch something in one of the theatres, you have to reserve your seat but they do go pretty quickly! I'd recommend reserving your spot as soon as you arrive at the festival, especially if there's someone you desperately want to see.

We were lucky enough to reserve spaces for Candice Brown in the afternoon. We watched her whip up a roulade and listened to her thoughts on the new bake off! Candice is so lovely in real life, she has such a warm and funny personality, I really enjoyed watching her and I'm so glad we got to see her.

I'd definitely go to a Foodies Festival again and I'd recommend it to anyone who loves food, cooking, baking, or just having a drink in the sun whilst listening to some music!
