Blooming El

I'll be honest, I've tried to write this post several times over the last few days. You know when you want to write, know what you want to write but just can't find the bloody words? Yeah that. I'm sitting in my bedroom, listening to those awesome wine and crime gals, hoping that I can just chat (type) my way through this post. Here goes...

It's hard to believe that another year is nearly over, it's even more hard to believe that we'll be entering 2018 (a few weeks ago I wrote the year as 2013, doh!). Where has all that time gone?

2017 has been an...'okay' year, I spent the first few months of it coming to terms with the fact my Nan was no longer with us and whilst I think I handled it all pretty well, I'm kind of glad that I had our New York trip to look forward to as it helped to have something positive to focus on. I've learnt over the past year that it's important to have something to look forward to, something positive to counteract the negatives, and to be grateful for what you DO have.

Looking back, I think I achieved quite a lot in 2017 and as we all love a list, I thought I'd put together a little one noting my smallest and biggest achievements:

  • In March, I took part in a #Dechox and raised just over £100 for the British Heart Foundation
  • I met up with Sian, another local blogger, and have formed a rather lovely friendship (built around snacks and outdoor spaces) with her
  • I bit the bullet and booked Kaye for my very first photoshoot
  • I read, read, and read some more
  • Myself and G (mainly G) started saving properly for a place of our own
  • I became a member of a gym and am continuing to use that membership
  • I received a pay rise and worked my butt off to meet deadlines
  • Myself and G became members of the National Trust
  • I bought my first pair of trainers (that weren't for PE lessons)
  • I became more confident in the kitchen and tried out new recipes/meals
  • I drove up and down winding roads and steep hills in Wales
  • I laughed, I cried, and I loved (Jughead mostly).

I'm excited about 2018 and feel good about what it could bring. I have a sneaky feeling there will be a lot of good change, whether that's true or not, who knows? We'll have to wait and see!

Me and G are having a quiet new year's eve. We'll be going out for pasta and pizza and then I'm dragging him to the cinema to see Pitch Perfect 3. I hope you have a wonderful new year, whatever you may be doing, and I wish you happiness, health, love and success for 2018. Here's to the next 365 days!
